December 2016 - Dipuraja's Chicken Tikka Biryani
(This recipe can be found in the recipe section here - Admin)
Thanks to Chickenbhoona who has searched high and low to try and work to the new rules of Curry Club and chosen this recipe - Alchemist:
EC's Post:
I made this rice the other day to have with a madras I had previously made. Wow!!! The rice is deelish, i loved the slight sweetness from the sultanas and the almonds. I will definitely be making this again.
I also noticed that when he uses his base for his veg curry it looks quite thickish and dark compared to what I use!?!?!
Well done Dip!

Re: Dipuraja1 biryani
This looks very nice and, given EC's glowing report, I have transcribed the recipe and moved it to the recipe section of the forum.

Made this tonight (Dipuraja's Biriani Rice but with my own Chicken Tikka Masala Madras).
As EC says, the rice is very nice

Looks great CA.
Re: Dipuraja1 biryani
This recipe is excellent. I made it pretty much to the letter although the I made a hot version of the veg curry. Lovely, thanks!

Re: Dipuraja1 biryani
I feel that Dipuraja has had some bad press previously because of his put it all in the pan at once method, but he does have some worthy recipes.
If only more people would give him, and his recipes a chance They may well be pleasantly surprised.

We served this exact recipe at British Indian 2go. It's really good.

It's this guy I took inspiration from. Love his food and makes it look so easy

Re: Dipuraja1 biryani
I agree Bobbie - I cook this rice very often and his mint raita too is the best I've come across
A curry can never be ‘too garlicky’ or ‘too hot’ .....
Re: Dipuraja1 biryani
Fully agree westy, but I do like his mint raita with Greek yogurt, I find it more creamy along with a few drops of Kashmiri oil to add a little zing

Great guy, great recipies.
I loved his throw it all in a pan and spend time cleaning the hob approach. It must have worked for him.

Re: December 2016 - Edwin Catflap Dipuraja1 Biryani
I've been staring at this recipe for a few minutes now. Maybe I'm missing something (my wife frequently observes I'm apparently blind) but I don't see how this comes together as written. I can guess but there's a biryani and a vegetable biryani sauce but no instruction on what to do with the sauce once you've made it? If I am missing something, mods please delete this post so I don't have to suffer living on in infamy for being stupid Or don't and perhaps I'll learn...

Well, I'm no biryani expert, but you eat the biryani along with the sauce, so either serve alongside or pour on top if you are feeling more reckless!

Where is the pilao rice recipe to go with this?
What are the 'new rules' of the CC?
Just curious....

Really looking forward to trying this one. Will report back soon hopefully!
Re: December 2016 - Edwin Catflap Dipuraja1 Biryani
Apologies. I've never had biryani in the UK. Had it in India and here in Canada and in neither case has there ever been any sort of sauce served along side or on top. Perhaps that's worth mentioning for those that wander upon this curry of the month from outside and are perplexed? Or even those who participate but aren't from the UK or UK ex-pate (and can't be bothered to watch the video - yes, I know, I'm an idiot...)?

I have made this in excess of 25 times over the years - great biryani and very simple to put together
